The project is a proposed solar photovoltaic renewable energy development on agricultural land c. 15 km north of Albury, NSW. The proposed project capacity is approximately 150 to 200 MW, which would generate enough power for over 83,000 average NSW homes, providing significant greenhouse gas emissions savings every year of its operation.
Stakeholder consultation and environmental assessment activity are now well underway for the Glenellen Solar Farm. Being assessed as a Major Project under the NSW planning system, the project will be evaluated by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment (DPE). The first steps in that process have now occurred, including the submission of a Preliminary Environmental Assessment (PEA) and the receipt of Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) assessment guidelines (known as Secretary’s Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs)).
Studies to inform the EIS are underway in parallel with stakeholder consultation.
